It protects the cross-links of elastin and collagen while defending the skin against free radicals and infusing it with moisture. DMAE can help tighten the skin on the face and body, reduce wrinkles, and provide neck and face lift. DMAE is a precursor to acetylcholine.

It is a neuromediator that plays an important role in the skin. Cholinergic stimulation of fibroblast membrane receptors and their cytosol myofilaments results in a pulling effect: it produces a lifting effect. DMAE also has anti-radical and anti-lipofuscin activities and repairs collagen and elastin protein cross-linking. DMAE’s mode of action may consequently result in a synergistic combination of actions at different levels: tension of non-muscle dermal cells, cohesion and displacement of keratinocytes, hydration and elasticity of the stratum corneum, better nutrition and defense of the skin.
